BIRD MASK BY CHANCAY CULTURE
This mask is a direct heritage of the Chancay ceramics from Peru, with the red and black colours over a clear cream background, pure style “black over white” which is so common in this culture, together with precise and simple lines. We can see a clear representation of a bird which currently in Peru is called “colibrí”. In this case the ceramics comes together with a traditional textile piece to give more realism to the final product. The textile tape in the top of the head has been made in a manual loom, which increases the craftsmanship value of the item.
